Job Purpose

The Senior Support Worker is responsible for leading and supporting a team of care staff to deliver high-quality care and support to individuals in need. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with care standards, and providing hands-on support to service users while mentoring junior staff members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of support workers, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Ensure the delivery of person-centered care that meets individual needs and preferences.
  • Assist service users with personal care, mobility, meals, and daily activities.
  • Administer and oversee medication in line with care plans and regulations.
  • Monitor service users' well-being and report changes to healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and care plans.
  • Support in the training and development of junior staff members.
  • Promote dignity, independence, and well-being for all service users.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and safeguarding protocols.
  • Assist in scheduling shifts and managing staff workloads.
  • Respond to emergencies and escalate concerns as necessary.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Support Worker or in a similar care role.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies and care regulations.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care.

Desirable Qualifications

  • First Aid and Manual Handling certification.
  • Experience working with individuals with dementia, learning disabilities, or mental health conditions.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
