Job Purpose
The Support Worker provides essential care and assistance to individuals who require support due to age, disability, mental health conditions, or other needs. The role involves promoting independence, dignity, and well-being while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, including assistance with washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.
- Support service users with mobility and physical activities, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Administer medication as per care plans and regulatory guidelines.
- Support emotional well-being by engaging service users in social activities and companionship.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
- Assist with household tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and shopping.
- Monitor and report changes in service users’ health, behaviour, or circumstances.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, family members, and other support staff.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, health and safety regulations, and care standards.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role (preferred but not essential).
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Willingness to complete training and development as required.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
- A valid driver’s license (if required for the role).
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
- First Aid and Manual Handling certification.
- Experience working with individuals with dementia, learning disabilities, or mental health conditions.
Salary
